Hatch Cover Crane
The hatch cover crane is specifically designed for lifting and lowering hatch
covers, serving as a hoisting device to assist in the opening and closing of hatch covers, as well as cargo loading and unloading operations. It is installed on the ship deck and travels along the rails on both sides of the hull.
A set of winch systems is fitted at each end of the main beam, featuring the synchronous lifting and lowering function to achieve smooth lifting and lowering of hatch covers. Electric hoists are mounted at the lower end of the main beam, which can also be used for hoisting other cargoes.
The hatch cover crane has a lifting capacity ranging from 3 to 40 tons with a span of 8 to 20 meters covers the entire deck, making it an ideal hoisting equipment for cargo handling on ship decks, and its minimum and maximum working height is 1.5 to 5 meters.
Components
As a special hoisting equipment for ships, the hatch cover crane is
composed of six core components with distinct functions. Its main components are as follows:
① Main frame and beam structure
--the core load-bearing part of the whole machine, ensuring structural stability.
② Hoisting mechanism:
-- including motor, reducer, reel, and steel wire rope, it is the core component for lifting hatch covers.
③ Traveling and traversing mechanism:
-- drives the crane to travel along fixed rails and adjust the lifting position.
④ Hydraulic/electric control system:
-- the control center of the equipment, realizing precise control of all movements.
⑤ Lifting tackle and connecting components:
-- special matching accessories for lifting hatch covers.
⑥ Safety protection devices:
-- including overload limiter, limit switch, emergency brake, and other components.
All components are designed in accordance with marine working conditions, featuring high strength and corrosion resistance, and are suitable for the harsh operating environment of ships.
Applications
Hatch cover cranes are commonly applied to cargo ships, container ships, bulk carriers, offshore booster stations, and other marine vessels.
Working Principle
The hatch cover crane relies on an electric drive system to drive the hoisting mechanism and traveling trolley, and cooperates with steel wire ropes or hydraulic lifting devices to lift the ship hatch covers smoothly.
The crane travels along the fixed rails on the ship deck or hatch top to complete the lifting, translation, and alignment of the hatch covers, so as to realize the opening and closing operation of the ship hatch cover plates.
Maintenance and Servicing
The maintenance cycle of marine equipment directly affects the service life
and normal operation of the ship.
As an important hoisting device for opening and closing the ship hatch covers, the maintenance cycle of marine hatch cover gantry cranes is generally determined by their service frequency and environmental conditions, and is usually carried out once a year. In actual operation, however, the maintenance cycle shall be appropriately adjusted according to the practical conditions and the working status of the equipment.
